How the Molding of the Arita ware Rabbit Ornament is made Vol.3

Casting and Molding

Mud plaster is poured into the use mold. Since plaster molds absorb water, the surface of the mold becomes thicker with clay as time passes after casting. When the required thickness is achieved, the mold is drained and excess plaster is poured out, and when it has hardened to the touch, it is removed from the mold.

If a shape cannot be formed in a single mold, parts cast in multiple molds are glued together.

being finished

Once the mold has dried and hardened to a certain degree, finishing is performed. Burrs are removed from mold joints, surfaces are smoothed, and details are finished and allowed to dry.
